Day 1

ARRIVAL / NEGOMBO / KANDY – 150km – 4 hours

On arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will get your first taste of warm Sri Lankan hospitality; Our representative will Welcome you and proceed directly to the Negombo and check in to the hotel.Negombo is currently the island’s fifth-largest town. It was founded by Arab traders. In the 16th Century the Portuguese created a center of their cinnamon trade here and fortified the town. In around the middle of the 17th Century the Dutch took over Negombo and built a canal, which, together with southern section, connects Colombo with Chilaw and Puttalam. It is still in use today. In 1796 the British occupied the town, which the Dutch had abandoned, and demolished many of the fortifications.After couple of hours rest, afternoon check out from the hotel, proceed to Kandy.Kandy the most beautiful city in the island and heart of Sri Lanka, lies in undulating, forested hill country. The pride of the city is the Temple of Tooth, but the idyllic lake in the middle of the town and the world-famous Botanical Garden are also something to write home about. Kandy is very conscious of the historic role which it played as the Last Capital of the Singhalese Kingdom and seat of the Last Singhalese King, Rajasinghe II. Today the town is the intellectual and religious center of Sri Lanka, a result not least of the fact that Buddhists, Hindus, Moors and Christians all co-exist here. The university, founded in 1835, is the country’s largest by far. The inhabitants of Kandy like to see themselves as Sri Lanka’s elite, as the very description Kandyan indicates. The name Kandy, incidentally, is short for “Kanda Uda Pas Rata”, which means “Kingdom in the Mountains”. Kandy also a UNESCO – World Heritage Site.

KANDY / NUWARA ELIYA – 90km – 2.5 hours

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya – is a city in the hill country of the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Its means “City on the Plains” of “City of Lights”. It called as “Little England” of Sri Lanka. Nuwara Eliya was founded by Samuel Baker. It is an altitude of 1,900m and is consider being the most important location for tea production in Sri Lanka. The city is over looked by Pidurutalagala, the tallest mountain in the country. Nuwara Eliya climate lent itself to becoming the prime sanctuary of the British civil servants and planters in Ceylon. Although the town was founded in the 19th Century by the Bristish, the distrci is today visited by native travelers, especially during month of April, the season of flowers, horse races, auto rallies and carnivals. Many of the buildings retain features from the colonial period such as the Grand Hotel, St. Andrew’s Hotel, Hill Club, Hospital and the Town Post Office. Nuwara Eliya also has one of the finest 18-hole golf courses in South Asia.En-route visit Tea Factory and Tea Plantation.Tea plantation – Visit a Tea plantation and a Tea Factory where one the best tea in the world is produced. You will be told all about the process of manufacturing tea and see how tea is graded. Taste a cup of pure Ceylon Tea in the factory.

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to visit Hakgala Botanical Garden.

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to visit Hakgala Botanical Garden.Hakgala Botanical Garden is one of the five botanical gardens in Sri Lanka. It is the second largest garden in Sri Lanka. The garden is contiguous to Hakgala Strict Nature Reserve. Hakgala Botanical Garden is situated on the Nuwara Eliya-Badulla main road, 16 km from Nuwara Eliya. The garden has a cool temperate climate because of altitude is 5,400 feet above the sea level. The mean annual temperature ranges between 16 °C to 30 °C during course of a year.[3] From December to February it has a cold climate, while the warm climate persists from April to August.The garden was established in 1861, under George Henry Kendrick Thwaites as an experimental cultivation of Cinchona, a commercial crop thriving at the time. Once after the Tea replaced the Cinchona, it was turned into an experimental Tea cultivation. In 1884 it transformed to a garden. Since then many sub-tropical and some temperate plants were planted in the gardens.Rest of the day leisure at the hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 4

NUWARA ELIYA / ELLA – 70km – 2.5 hours

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Ella.

Ella is a small town in the Badulla District of Uva Province of Sri Lanka governed by an Urban Council. It is approximately 200 kilometers (120 miles) East of Colombo and situated at an elevantion of 1000 meters above sea level. The area has a rich bio-diversity dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna. Ella is surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests and tea plantations. The town has a cooler climate than its surroundings, due to its elevation. The Ella Gap allows views across the Southern Plains of Sri Lanka. Ella is perfect location for the nature lovers and adventurous. It also features Ravana Falls, which is one of the main waterfalls in the island, little Adm’s Peak and Ella Rock. On a clear night you can see the Great Basses Lighthouse with its commanding posture and that is a view that should not missed.

Day 5

ELLA / TANGALLE – 150km – 3.5 hours

After breakfast at the hotel, proceeds to Tangalle.

Tangalle is a big town in Southern Province of Sri Lanka and governed by an Urban Council. It is located 195 kilometers south of Colombo. It has a mild climate in comparison to the rest of the district, and sandy beaches. Tangalle is regionally important fishing port and a centre of tourism. In the city centre there is an old Dutch Fort which is used as a prison today. Most attraction place at Tangalle is Blowhole which is situated very close to city. Tourist can enjoy the cool water of the sea, and indulge in swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and other water sports.

It has a long history as a port on ancient east-west trade routes, ruled successively by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. That heritage is reflected in its spicy cuisine as well as its architecture, mixing colonial buildings with high-rises and shopping malls.
