The academy Award – Winning “The Bridge on the River Kwai” was filmed on the Kelani River near Kitulgala, although nothing remains now except the concrete foundations of the bridge (and supposedly, the submerged train cars that plunged into the river in the climactic scene). Kitulgala is also base for White Water Rafting, which starts a few kilometers up stream.

On completion proceed to Knuckles Mountain Range for Camping for 02 nights.

*The Knuckles Mountain range lies in central Sri Lanka min the Districts of Matale and Kandy. The range takes its name from a series of recumbent folds and peaks in the west of the massif which resemble the knuckles of clenched fist when viewed from certain locations in the Kandy District. Whilst this name was assigned by early British surveyor, the Sinhalese residents have traditionally referred to the area as “Dumbara Kanduvetiya” meaning Mist-laden Mountain Range.

Despite not using an engine, paraglider flights can last many hours and cover many hundreds of kilometers, through flights of one to two hours and covering some tens of kilometers are more the norm. By skillful exploitation of sources of lift, the pilot may gain height, often climbing to altitudes of a few thousand meters.
