Day 1

ARRIVAL / SIGIRIYA – (160KM – approximately 4-hour drive)

Flight ArrivalTBA.

On arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will get your first taste of warm Sri Lankan hospitality; Representative from Aakash Asia Ceylon will Welcome you and proceed directly to Sigiriya and check in to the hotel.

Dinner and overnight stay in Sigiriya.

Day 2

SIGIRIYA / POLONNARUWA / SIGIRIYA – (60KM – approximately 1-hour drive)

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to visit Sigiriya Rock fortress.

*Sigiriya is a “World Heritage Site” and the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky” which is perhaps the most fantastic single wonder of the Island. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the Palace on the summit of the 600-foot high rock. On its summit are the foundations of the Royal Palace, Water Tanks to supply water and all other buildings and at the edges the guardhouses. On one of the stairways the only known ancient work of Sinhala secular painting survived in the form of Frescoes of 21 life sized damsels still shining in their original colors. The Water Gardens, Fountain Garden, Summerhouses, Boulder Gardens and the Caves within the enclosed area should not be missed. In 1982 by the UNESCO declared Ancient City of Sigiriya as a World Heritage Site Upon arrive visit Dambulla Rock Cave Temple.

On completion proceed to Polonnaruwa.

*Polonnaruwa, the 2nd most ancient kingdom of Sri Lanka is an interesting mix of Buddhist and Hindu structures that are a testament to the different kings who reigned over this ancient kingdom. Polonnaruwa rose to prominence between the 11th and 13th centuries and thrived during the reign of the famous monarch, King Parakramabahu I, who did much to create a resplendent city. His greatest achievement was the construction of the sea of Parakrama, a huge water reservoir spanning an area of 6280 acres. The ruins at Polonnaruwa are within walking distance and many of them set in tree-shaded areas, a welcome refuge from the tropical sun. This ancient city is one of the best planned archeological relic sites in the country, standing testimony to the discipline and greatness of the Kingdom's first rulers. In 1982 UNESCO declared Ancient City of Polonnaruwa as a World Heritage Site.

On completion return to hotel in Sigiriya.

Day 3

SIGIRIYA / DAMBULLA / KANDY – (120KM – approximately 3-hour drive)

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to visit Dambulla Rock Cave Temple.

*Dambulla cave temple also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site (1991) in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings.

On completion visit Spice and Herbal Garden in Matale.

*Spice Garden to see the different spice, which spices, which Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed.

Afterward proceed to Kandy.

*Kandy – which is a UNESCO world heritage site. The historical city about 480m above from sea level surrounded by mountains was known to Sri Lankan as Kanda Uda Rata, which means the Hill Country. Kandy was home to Sri Lanka’s last independent Kingdom, which survived two centuries of colonial incursion before finally falling to the British at the beginning of the 19th Century.

Upon arrive commence Kandy City Tour.

*Kandy City Tour - Kandy Lake Round, Upper Lake Drive, View Point, Art and Craft Centre, Gem Museum, Batik, Silk and Woodcarving Factories.

Evening visiting Temple of Tooth Relic.

*Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha.

Later evening witness experience a colorful show where you will be takes to mind blowing Sri Lankan culture extravaganza. Including fire walking. Get ready for heavy drum beat and acrobatic act.

Day 4

KANDY / PERADENIYA / NUWARA ELIYA – (90KM – approximately 2-hour drive)

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to visit Royal Botanical garden in Peradeniya.

*Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It attracts 2 million visitors annually. It is near the Mahaweli River (the longest in Sri Lanka). It is renowned for its collection of orchids. The garden includes more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Attached to it is the National Herbarium of Sri Lanka. The total area of the botanical garden is 147 acres (0.59 km2), at 460 meters above sea level. It is managed by the Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of Agriculture.

On completion proceed to Nuwara Eliya. En-route visit Tea Factory and Tea Plantation.

*Tea plantation – Visit a Tea plantation and a Tea Factory where one the best tea in the world is produced. You will be told all about the process of manufacturing tea and see how tea is graded. Taste a cup of pure Ceylon Tea in the factory.

*Nuwara Eliya – is a city in the hill country of the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Its means “City on the Plains” of “City of Lights”. It called as “Little England” of Sri Lanka. Nuwara Eliya was founded by Samuel Baker. It is an altitude of 1,900m and is consider being the most important location for tea production in Sri Lanka. The city is over looked by Pidurutalagala, the tallest mountain in the country. Nuwara Eliya climate lent itself to becoming the prime sanctuary of the British civil servants and planters in Ceylon. Although the town was founded in the 19th Century by the Bristish, the distrci is today visited by native travelers, especially during month of April, the season of flowers, horse races, auto rallies and carnivals. Many of the buildings retain features from the colonial period such as the Grand Hotel, St. Andrew’s Hotel, Hill Club, Hospital and the Town Post Office. Nuwara Eliya also has one of the finest 18-hole golf courses in South Asia.

Upon arrive commence Nuwara Eliya City Tour.

*Nuwara Eliya City Tour – Gregory Lake, Golf Course, Race Course, Market Square.

Dinner and overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 5

NUWARA ELIYA / KITULGALA / BENTOTA – (250KM – approximately 6-hour drive)

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Bentota via Kitulgala.

*Kitulgala is a small town in the west of Sri Lanka. It is in the wet zone rain forest, which gets two monsoons each year, and is one of the wettest places in the country. Nevertheless, it comes alive in the first three months of the year, especially in February, the driest month. The academy Award – Winning “The Bridge on the River Kwai” was filmed on the Kelani River near Kitulgala, although nothing remains now except the concrete foundations of the bridge (and supposedly, the submerged train cars that plunged into the river in the climactic scence). Kitulgala is also base for White Water Rafting, which starts a few kilometers up stream.

On completion proceeds to Bentota.

*Bentota is a coastal town in Sri Lanka, located in the Galle District of the Sothern Province, governed by an Urban Council. It is approximately 65km (40mi) south of Colombo and 56km (35mi) north of Galle. Bentota is situated on the southern bank of the Bentota River mouth. Bentota is a tourist attraction, with a local airport (Bentota River Airport) and a handful of world class hotels. It is a destination for water sport. Bentota also delivers an ancient art of healing called Ayurveda. Bentota is famous for its toddy production, an alcoholic beverage made from coconut nectar. It also has a turtle hatchery, located on Induruwa beach.

Day 6

BENTOTA / GALLE / BENTOTA – (60KM – approximately 1-hour drive)

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to visit Galle Dutch Fort.

*Dutch Fort at Galle, close to the island’s southernmost point, has the distinction of being the best-preserved sea fort in South Asia. A living heritage site, this 90-hectare (222 acre) attraction is a superb blend of architecture, with fortifications that resemble those in the coastal areas of Portugal. The fall of Galle to the Dutch in 1640 saw its fortifications consolidated further along the lines of the fortified cities of Europe. The Dutch and the English colonial styles are evident in the deep verandahs of houses supported by timber or masonry pillars. Originally established by the Portuguese in the 16th Century, it reached its zenith under Dutch rule in the 18th Century, providing spacious housing, wide roads and all necessary facilities within its walls including an intricate sewage system that was ahead of its time. In 1988 by the UNESCO declared Old Town of Galle and its Fortification as a World Heritage Site.

On completion proceed to Balapitiya for Boat Safari at Madu River.

*Madu River (Ganga) is situated in Balapitiya, along the country’s southern cast, within the Galle District of the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. It opens to the Indian ocean Madu River is a very wide and a beautiful river in Sri Lanka. It is in the wet zone of the country with a high bio-diversity. Madu River has been proclaimed a Ramsa wetland in the world in 2004.

On completion visit Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda.

The turtles lay their eggs on the beaches and there’re people who collect these eggs and sell them to the turtle hatcheries. There’s a moral conflict in this action, between the natural selection of the survival of the fittest and high turtle preservation.

On completion return to the hotel.

*Optional activities; You can enjoy water sport activities at Bentota River. Such as Jet Ski, Banana Boat, Tube Ride.

Dinner and overnight stay in Bentota.

Day 7

BENTOTA / COLOMBO – (70KM – approximately 1-hour drive)

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Colombo.

*Colombo, the Commercial Capital of Sri Lanka, is a bustling city and a hopping-off point for beaches in the island nation's south. It has a long history as a port on ancient east-west trade routes, ruled successively by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. That heritage is reflected in its spicy cuisine as well as its architecture, mixing colonial buildings with high-rises and shopping malls.

Upon arrive commence Colombo City Tour.

*Colombo City Tour - Visiting Colombo Light house, Light house with Clock Tower designed by Lady Ward (built before the Big Ben in London), Galle Face Promenade with cannons of World War II, South Expansion of the Colombo Harbour, York Street with remnants of British Colonial Architecture, Slave Island are, famous Hindu Kovil with unique carved gopuram, Nelum Pokuna Theater, Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo Town Hall, BMICH, Independence Square, the scenic Beira Lake in the heart of the city, the War Memorial, Public Library, National Museum and many more interesting places.

Day 8
